#Chris #Skinner, a #financial advisor, was invited to Tunis in 9 April by the #Tunisian #Professional #Association of #Banks and #Finacial #Institutions (#APTBEF) at the international exihibition of Information Technology and Communication « #SITIC #Africa » to talk about FinTech , a discpline that reconsiders the model of finance thanks to technological innovation.
In his speech, he turns back to a theme that is dear to him: the fourth revolution, to which he devoted his latest book » Digital Human ». What is it about? « The fourth revolution is the profound transformation of technology on humanity, transforming human beings into digital humans. New technologies open up new possibilities for the economy.  »
Chris Skinner analyzes the current situation by focusing his thesis on several points: Opening up to financial globalization, effectuating digital transition, attracting International Banks and encouraging initiative spirit. Concerning the Globalization, goods’ and people’s movement influence finance on several levels especially nowadays, with the advent of new technologies and the rapidity of means of transport. There is a finance at the national level, within the framework of what occuring in one country.
Then, each country acts in accordance with the whole world economy and with each country individually. For example: the current US banking infrastructure results in economic changes in Asia, Europe and Africa.
He insists on the importance of digitizing the banking system to open borders and thus allow to welcome international banks. While studying the case of North African countries, he was surprised by their willingness to invest in banks. Therefore, it is important to preserve banks in Tunisia.
It is the banks that finance individual projects. Nowadays, thanks to globalization and the digital system, everyone is able to be wealthy or entrepreneur. The proof is that some Indian millionnaires of today were, ten years ago, whether serving chicken, unemployed or street traders.
Note that Chris Skinner is a prominent FinTech scholar. The precedent concept combines the terms « Finance » and « Technology »: It refers to an innovative field that reconsiders the model of finance thanks to the technological innovation.
